The gap between Clinton and Trump’s likely voters has widened in Florida, ahead of Monday’s first presidential debate.
The two candidates were virtually tied on September 19, according to a poll by New York Times Upshot/Siena College Florida.
Now, as of September 26, a new poll has come out by Reuters/Ipsos which shows Clinton with a four point lead against Trump. Florida favors Clinton 49 percentage points to Trump’s 44 percentage points.
They also found that if the election were held today, Clinton would lead Trump in the Electoral College 259 to 191, with an 88 percent chance of Clinton gaining the 270 electoral votes needed to win.
This is the first surge for Clinton in Florida in several weeks. It will be interesting to note how these numbers change after the debate Monday night, which may have an estimated 100 million viewers.
