A new poll from the University of New Hampshire Survey Center and Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram has solidified Trump’s lead in the 2nd Congressional District. Reminder: Maine is one of two states that splits their electoral votes by congressional district and statewide.
The poll shows Trump leading in the 2nd Congressional District by 48% to Clinton’s 34%. In the 1st Congressional District, the polls are reversed. Clinton is leading by 50%, followed by Trump at 28% and 14% supporting other candidates.
Before heading into tonight’s debate, Clinton is looking at securing 3 electoral votes: 2 for winning the state overall, and 1 for securing the 1st District, while Trump would win 1 vote from the 2nd District.
In a race as close as this one, every electoral vote counts. It will be interesting to see the polling after tonight’s debate, so stay tuned!
