A Quinnipiac poll conducted between October 10-16 show that independent voters in Florida are now favoring Clinton, causing her to lead Trump in the polls by a wide margin.

On the October 3 poll, Clinton lead Trump 42-39 among independent voters. The current poll has her at 46-38, also among independent voters. This four point increase for Clinton is crucial in the Florida swing state, while Trump is losing likely independent voters.

Among all likely voters, Clinton’s lead against Trump has increased to 48-44, while Johnson generated 4 percentage points. Support for Clinton among independent voters helps to explain her increasing surge in the polls.

Trump will have to do a lot of work over the next three weeks to overtake Clinton in Florida before Election Day. His last chance to address voters on a national stage will be the third and final presidential debate, this Wednesday at 9 p.m. E.T.
