Because it’s the Monday after a political bombshell was dropped on the election, I thought I would do an analysis of the polls in Virginia since last Friday, October 28th.
The day FBI Director James Comey announced that the FBI would be re-investigating Clinton, Trump jumped up a solid 2 points and Clinton increased by about 0.3. Since Friday, Trump has remained at 40.7 in Virginia with Clinton at around 49 percent. However, today Clinton dipped down to 48.7, leaving her 2 points below where she was last Thursday.
Although Trump’s increase by 2 points from last Thursday could be seen as small, it’s significant that the announcement on Friday would have an effect on polls for both candidates, seeing as Virginia has been a steady supporter of Clinton throughout the election. Although some might argue that Trump’s polls should have increased more than 2 points, 2 points for Trump in Virginia is huge, considering he pulled out of campaigning in Virginia just a few weeks ago.
With just 7 days left before the election, this Halloween presents some spooky polls for Virginia.
